Sovereign Traces is a new anthology of Indigenous comics that merges contemporary North American Indigenous literature with imaginative illustrations by U.S. and Canadian artists. Through this exciting medium, Sovereign Traces beckons to audiences that are both new to and familiar with Indigenous writing, allowing for possibilities for reimagined readings along the way.

Warren Cariou was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, into a family of mixed Métis and European heritage. He teaches in the Department of English, Film and Theatre and directs the Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture at the University of Manitoba.
Scott B. Henderson specializes in comic book art, sequential story telling, and illustrations. His most recent book is A Girl Called Echo: Pemmican Wars.
Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair is Anishinaabe (St. Peter’s/Little Peguis) and an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba in the Department of Native Studies. He is an award-winning writer, editor, and activist.
