Want to break a world record? Take part in the challenge of the largest number of kids coding in a single day with Moonhack!
As part of Moonhack 2018, Code Club Canada and U of M Computer Science Department will be hosting a free Moonhack event in Winnipeg to celebrate computer science and education.
We invite kids aged between 8 to 12 years old (must be accompanied by an adult). This is a drop in event so participants can expect to work on a project for at least one hour but are welcome to stay for the whole event! Computers will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own device.

— WHAT IS MOONHACK?
We’re bringing Moonhack to Canada! Started by Code Club Australia, Moonhack is the Record Setter event that is achieved by kids all over the globe. In 2016, 10,207 Australian kids participated, with the idea being to inspire kids to participate widely in digital technologies, inspiring kids to believe in their ability to aim for the moon. In 2017 Code Club aimed higher than the year before, and reached 28,575 kids!
This year kids from every village, every city, every school or every home around the world, will get the chance to collaborate and code to beat the record once again on July 20! Celebrate inclusion in STEM, diversity in technology and the opportunity to achieve big things through education when we work together.
Moonhack is for everyone. Moonhack is inclusive, because coding is for everyone!!! All skill levels encouraged:
— Kids new to code
— Kids in Code Clubs, Coder Dojos, MakerSpaces Libraries
— Coding whizz kids who code at home
— Code enthusiasts who are discovering their love for digital making
Code Club Australia believes that democratising digital education is the way forward, and encourages all kids, all skill levels to join in!
Any coding project with a moon or space theme can be submitted or check out our open source Moonhack projects in Scratch and Python! We will also be hosting projects from our partners in code.
