Celebrate the summer solstice with Indian City, Kinnie Starr and Scott Nolan at the Museum on June 21. What better way to start the summer than listening to the sounds of these incredible artists?

Winnipeg-based folk pop band Indian City is the winner of the 2018 Indigenous Music Awards for Best Pop Album. Their 2017 song “Through the Flood” is a powerful ballad of hope, seeking truth and justice.

Scott Nolan is a folk songwriter, poet and multi-instrumentalist from Winnipeg. His 2017 Silverhill album, the 9th since 2003, has been called “a near-perfect match of song and player” by music reviewer Ink 19.

Calgary-born singer-songwriter Kinnie Starr blends hip hop and alternative rock. Her new record, called Feed the Fire, will be released in October 2018 and will be a critical look at “where we are at in our relationships to the screen, to our faiths, and to each other.”

The free concert starts at 6 p.m. in Bonnie & John Buhler Hall on Level 1 of the Museum. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

June 21 is also National Indigenous Peoples Day – a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the heritage, culture and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Metis people.
